    New look and a new Oragami UMPC

    Firstly have to say I am not too impressed with the new Windows Live look especially after the Windows Live takeover of MSN Spaces my URL frame pointing www.swifttrain.com to this blog stopped working, I know I should be blogging more often.
     
    Have to admit ther is no way I can keep up with Susan http://www.sbsdiva.com check out her blog if you need any information on SBS it's really worthwhile also don't forget to check out her links as they link to every blog worth looking at on SBS, and yes if you check I am not on Susan's list but that's as it should be I feel for a blog to be useful there needs to be at least 7 posts a week with no more than 48 hour gap between posts. So I promise I will try better.
     
    Anyway wanted to start posting about my Samsung Q1 Ultra Mobile PC check out the unboxing and once over from JK on the run here
     
    So what's the story well basically you get an ultra mobile laptop with a 7" screen that has a 40gb Hard drive with 512MB ram with a full touch screen in a form factor about the size of a paperback A5 book.
     
    Any problems well we have Wireless B and G and blutooth and even a 10/100 lan port however I think we should an embedded UMTS / 3G data card ready to accept a Sim from someone like Vodafone.
     
    Will post my first week with the Q1 tomorrow.

    looks like a nice little machine. The new range of VF mobile connect devices are going to be USB due to most manufacturers going express slot rather than PCMCIA these days.

    With regards the 3G, the only upgrade slot is either through a compact flash card or through usb, where the ones provided by the suppliers are PCMCIA.
    The other thing I noticed is that, like most laptops I have used the UPMC's screen did not seem great in the sunlight.
     
    But it does look very sweet, and a great point of interest!
